The semianechoical cell allow us, among other uses, according to standardised tests, to determine the acoustical power level produced by any kind of noise source (machines, electrical devices, toys, etc.).

Tests are generally carried out according to UNE-EN ISO 3744:1996 standard – Determination of sound power levels of noise sources using sound pressure.

The current legislation forces to regulate the sound emissions in the environmment due to the use of outdoor machines (Real Decreto 212/2002 in Spain and European Directive 2000/14) and to realise an adequate label of the acoustical characteristics of devices destined to domestical use (Real Decreto 213/1992). Generally, all the products with CE label need an evaluation of the noise sources acoustical power.

The characterisation of a noise source through its sound power and its radiation diagram can constitute the first step towards the acoustical optimisation in the tested products design. In the R&D Department, a collaboration can be established for the execution of investigation projects, that would allow to optimise the mechanical systems and their components, in order to improve the technical features of the analysed products.
